Henry J. Thomas March 31, 1926- September 13, 2007 PHENIX CITY, AL— Henry J. Thomas, 81, beloved husband of Vivian Thomas died on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at home. Funeral services, to celebrate Henry's life, will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. EDT, September 14, 2007 with Dr. Wayne Scarborough, Reverends Rodney Mitchell and Bill Van Dyke officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm prior to service at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, Alabama. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Thomas's grandsons and son-in-laws. Honorary pallbearers Edmon Johnson, Dan Brown, Foy Giles, Alton Sellers and the Senior Men at Auburn Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas was born on March 31, 1926 in Goshen, Alabama, son of the late Henry T. Thomas and Nurnie Jeffcoat Thomas. He is retired from Flav-O-Rich Dairies. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church. Other than his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by brothers; Wilburn Thomas, Jack Thomas, Ray Thomas, Emory Thomas; sisters; Naomi Shirley, Virginia Knight, Glennette Grant. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Vivian M. Thomas of Phenix City, AL.; three daughters, Marlene Faircloth and husband Lavon of Phenix City, AL., Diann Sauls and husband Marvin of Phenix City, AL., Cheryl Blackwell and husband Gabriele of Phenix City, AL.; one sister, Cuba Sims of Troy, AL.; grandchildren, Amanda Owens and husband Shane, Amy Adams and husband Lee, Leslie Sauls, Brandon Sauls; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Owens, Tinsley Adams, Luke Owens. Heartfelt gratitude to the employees of Phenix City Vista Care who helped with Mr. Thomas's care as well as Dr. Clark Cobb, Dr. B. Lamar Carden, Dr. Wes Marner and Dr. Todd Jarrell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Auburn Heights Baptist Church land fund or to Phenix City Vista Care.
